A Closet is…..More Than Just Space

Who loves a closet? I do. I love closets for many reasons, most personal but others practical.

A closet is more than a place to put things in; it’s a hiding place. It’s a recluse for prayer and solace.

A closet is also an opportunity to escape the immediate surroundings, a reprieve from whatever gramps your style. It’s a chance to run away mentally in meditation, swimming in the void.

The closet holds your secrets of the things you hide there. It is your safe space. A place for keepsakes, gifts, money, and many others, or a  hiding place for your valuables and your shame.

In the closet, you are vigilant, listening for anything out of the ordinary. You can have the lights off or on, but the void speaks to you in the dark. It’s yours to decorate, style, and arrange. Fill it with fun things, outfits, and shoes—all memories of days gone by or soon to come.

The closet can be nonphysical too. A meeting in the open spaces you choose. Perhaps your closet is the car, the back seat, or the front seat during your commute. It can feel like you are confined to it when you’re sitting in traffic or a bad weather event. But you love the security of having a strong metal vehicle surrounding you to offer a bit of safety.

We can lock ourselves in our vehicles for sleeping, reading, or just thinking. Being stuck in traffic is an involuntary closeting.

The closet offers you safety, too.

The work closet, that job you love to stay at, no matter how much you hate the commute. That job is making you feel safe because you won’t leave it. It’s the fact that you are comfortable there, you know everyone, and it’s easy for you now.

Are you sure you don’t want to consider changing your closet? You could redecorate or change what you keep in it.

What about your body, mind, and soul? What you put into your body is going into your safe closet. You hold it and you use it up. Be mindful of what you allow into and keep within your internal closet: your physical body, mental body, and soul.

You are the only one who can care for your body’s closet. Be kind to yourself and show yourself love. Begin to purge your mental and physical body of all poisons and contaminants that make you sluggish or stagnate in personal growth, struggling with weight gain or fatigue.

It’s time to purge what no longer serves you, reevaluate your closets, and make them more appropriate for your new life.

Yes, a new life for you. It’s here; you can embrace it with hope and faith because you have the power. You are the power that makes what you see, keep, and hold onto.

Everything you put in that closet will remain there until you take it out or remove yourself from it. But as long as it remains there, it affects you every day.

Think about how you feel when you find something you forgot you had. You reminisce and feel sad or happy, but put it back in that box or bin and cover it up. You don’t need or even want it, and may feel guilty about throwing it out.

A clean closet is a safe closet,  reborn and reopened.   It allows for new, bright and modern beginning, with positive things to come in because now you have space—a clean, fresh-smelling space to put things in.

Start fresh with new thoughts, ideas, projects, gifts, shoes, and outfits. It’s time to do it, it’s time to let go of those things from the past. You can remember what you want to. Let go of those painful memories from your childhood. You found that old jacket the abuser gave you. Forgive them and throw that jacket in the trash, or burn it. You found those divorce papers and tax records from two years ago. Throw those papers away, or burn them. You’re still driving that car he gave you, which is filled with memories of road rage and fighting when he gave you that black eye. Didn’t you leave him?

Now, get rid of the car. All those bad memories are still in your closet, in your car, and in your mind. Let that all go!

Keep your closet clean, neat, and organized. Never fill it up with junk or meaningless things.

You can always donate them, as someone else may need them. Don’t stay stagnant because you hold on to material things.

Always keep open space and have a receptive mindset. After all the renovating and praying, your blessings will flow in to fill you up once again.

When the Captives were Free!

The year was 1765 when the first of the great African warriors were stolen from their homelands. Their hands shackled, their names stripped, and their spirits tested aboard the hellish ships that crossed the Atlantic.

But the Europeans did not realize that they had not simply kidnapped workers. They had taken kings, strategists, healers, and warriors. People who had ruled empires and commanded armies long ago.

For centuries, the Africans endured, but they never forgot who they were. In secret, they shared their wisdom, trained their young, and passed down traditions of their ancestors. They wove messages of rebellion into their songs. They built networks that stretched across plantations and sharpened their knowledge of the land.

When the time came, they struck with the force of a mighty storm. The uprising spread from the deep south to the plantations of Virginia, overtaking their oppressors in waves of carefully planned rebellion. The so-called “Civil War” was not between the North and the South, but instead it was between the enslaved and the enslavers.

The war lasted for years, but the outcome was inevitable. The Africans reclaimed their freedom and the land they had been forced to build became their legacy. After their victory, they established a new nation. A nation built not on vengeance, but on balance.

The Africans were no longer slaves. They allowed those who wished to return to Europe to do so. While others who remained were granted status as legal residents and citizens of the country, and were free to live but never to rule over others again.

The United States was reborn and led by the descendants of the African slaves, who shaped the land with their wisdom and strength. Under their rule, the nation thrived. It was not a land of conquest, but one of healing, knowledge, and unity.

I Am Enough!

I have made mistakes. I am not perfect, but I am worthy!

I am worthy of whatever I want.

I have always been worthy.

I forgive myself, and I love myself.

I forgive others, and I love others.

I allow love to flow in and allow it to flow out.

I set my own limits.

I set my own boundaries.

I am powerful with unlimited potential.

I can release the hurt and the pain.

I can cry it out! I can shout it out!

I release the people, places and things that no longer serve me!

I will remember you, but I have to move on.

I release the old habits that stifled my growth; they have lost their grip.

I don’t need them anymore.

I have new ones and am on a new path.

I am not afraid. I am not alone.

I am fearless. I have grown.

I am courageous and free to soar.

I surrender all the hurt and pain that once was a chore.

I am no longer that girl; she no longer exists.

She is resilient and rises above it all.

She is a new girl who has been reborn into a woman with a roar.

I see it all now!

It makes sense to me now.

I am more than enough!

We Focus and We Heal!

I focus on it.
I assimilate it.
It lingers if I favor it.
I research it.
Is it possible?
Periodically, it enters my thoughts.
Three times I see it in another way or form.
I focus on it again and begin to think about pursuing it.

I create it.

I infuse it and manifest it into my life.
I release my wounds and heal my past hurts and pains.
Until I share it, we share it, we learn, and we grow until we progress.

We focus, and we heal!

What You Can Do?

I know just what to do. Relax and do not fear.

My angels , they got my back. I got my spirit guides too.

So you might wanna step back, there’s nothing you can do!

Just be gone before you lose and reap your sows.

Because Karma is real, and you will certainly know,

Why you can’t hurt divine property; But you can grow.

Grow into your highest potential.

And never be envious, instead, just have mercy!

All My Life

All my life, I have been kept from this!

Kept from that!

Kept to do this!

You’d better do that!

For the rest of my life, I have been freed!

Free from this!

Free from that!

Free to do me!

I don’t have to do that!

I will just be!

Who I Am Becoming

I am becoming a woman to watch out for!

I am the energy inside that is now emerging!

I am a strong woman of authenticity who is becoming known for her work!

I am coming out!

I am becoming a spiritual leader, a teacher and a coach.

I am becoming a business owner, an investor, and a real estate property owner.

I am a visonary! I am a catalyst!

I desire it all, and it desires me!

I am confident, strong, courageous, determined and worhty of it all!

I am becoming who I was always meant to be!

You’d better watch out for me!

We Will Survive

We Will Survive

He gave me the courage to walk away,
From a home where shadows lay.
Pain and silence, walls so thin,
A house of hurt I'd lived within.

With him, I saw a different light,
A future reaching, shining bright.
A chance to run, to break, to mend,
To start anew, and to find an end.

I packed my child and we left behind,
The ghosts that clung to the heart and mind.
A state away to a safer place.
A home that promised love and grace.

For a while the world seemed more kind,
But soon the past was close behind.
His mask fell off and the truth was there,
His love was just smoke that filled the air.

An empty bottle, a bitter tongue,
A rage that burned, a song unsung.
No father, no partner, no steady hand,
Just broken dreams and shifting sand.

Dependent, trapped, and afraid to flee.
A caged bird longing to be free.
Survival stole my will to grow,
My dreams were paused and my hope sank low.

The drinking, yelling and striking pain,
A pattern played the same refrain.
Not again, I swore inside myself,
Not this path, not this ride, I have more wealth.

So once again, with a lifted chin,
My daughter's hand pressed into my skin.
We turned away and left the past behind,
A life unlived, a fate unkind.

No chains remain, no cage, and no ties.
Beneath the stars, the future lies.
And as we walk, the night so wide,
I whisper softly; we will survive.

Freedom Calls

Freedom Calls

What is this cage that holds me tight?
I built these walls both day and night.
Bound to the page, not to my soul,
A life of work that took its toll.

I chased the spark, I fed my pride.
Dollar signs, my faithful guide.
But where did it go? It slipped away,
A Shadow is cast at the close of the day.

Open the door, set my heart free!
A brighter world now waits for me.
No more chains to weigh me down,
I wear my freedom like a crown!

The time has come. I rise and shout.
I've found my way, and I'm breaking out!
My spirit soars, my light will shine,
At last, this life is truly mine!

Unhealed and Addicted

I admired him. He was so handsome, so sure, and so wise.
With knowing hands and steady eyes.
A man of faith, or so he proclaimed,
With past mistakes that once were tamed.

He taught me well, and so I thought,
This is a life of balance, with lessons sought.
With careful acts, he shaped my view,
Of food, of health, of something new.

But shadows lurked behind his smile,
Secrets buried all the while.
A fragile peace, a past denied,
A soul still lost, although dignified.

His faith with words was a hollow sound,
His truth was buried, hidden underground.
I closed my eyes to all the signs,
And mistook his chains for healing lines.

Twelve years of love and silent fears,
I bore his daughter and sons while drying my tears.
Four children were born, yet still I'm alone,
His heart was gone, and his purpose had flown.

He spoke of legacies and of men,
Of wisdom passed from now to then.
But soon the pull was far too strong,
His demons whispered to him alone.

In and out behind cold steel bars,
Chasing habits and hiding scars.
A single man in spirit free,
Yet bound in chains, he could not see.

And so he left, leaving us behind.
To stitch the wounds and to heal the mind.
I learned the weight of empty space,
And found my strength in his disgrace.
